I was on my way to feed 'em then remembered that I forgot to mention the Penistone Line Partnership.
They are a group who look after the passengers and rersidents interests along the Penistone Line, which is a railway line running from Huddersfield to Barnsley, through Penistone, en route to Sheffield. Its a beautifully scenic line worth a ride, made all the more fun by the fact they have many activities running on the line throughout the year, including music trains, which, if you've checked our gig page, we are going to be doing! We've supported the PLP for a number of years and I can say the gigs on the train are plenty of fun! There is a rolling bar on board withh the only working beer pump present on the British Railway network (if not the planet), always loaded with plenty of dance inducing refreshments and a guest ale from any one of a number of local breweries. I've fallen over playing a few times, not due to intoxication I must add, just my own misjudgment of the 'rougher' sections of the line. All part of the fun I say, with people dancing in the aisles (or maybe they're just trying to stand up, I'm not sure), it makes for a different, but no less fun evening out. You can even hire the train for private parties. Just contact the PLP for details, they'll arrange your band of choice, 'refreshments' amongst other things. www.southpenninesrail.co.uk Right, I'm off to feed the guinea pigs now, honest!
